FAE celebrates 20 years as innovators in forestry and construction equipment

Flowery Branch/Atlanta, GA (2009)

FAE Group, the largest manufacturer of forestry mulching and shredding attachments in the world, celebrates its 20th anniversary 1989-2009.  In 1989, FAE, Forestry and Agriculture Equipment, was founded in northern Italy BY FOUR PARTNERS,  Silvano Angheben, Giovanni Braiato, G. Franco Pizzuto and Diego Scanzoni.. Unlike other companies, FAE produces the key components of their machines within the company and has purchased their former suppliers to ensure the best design and quality of their machines.  In 2005, FAE founded a sister company, Primetech, which produces prime movers machines that are purpose-built for their intended markets.  Innovation, variety, and quality in the mulchers, rock crushers, and soil stabilizers they produce help solidify their success in the forestry, agriculture, and construction industries.

The FAE product line encompasses a wide range of crushing, grinding, mulching, shredding, and stabilizing attachments.  Generally speaking they are built to outfit tractors, skid steer loaders, excavators, and prime movers of many sizes and horse power ranges.  With the inception of the Primetech line in 2005, a range of purpose-built land clearing machines from 180-415 horse power are now added to that product mix, including its’ flagship the PT-400.

Typical applications for its products include land clearing, vegetation management, road reclamation, stone crushing, forestry tilling, trail maintenance, and slope mowing.
Having sold primarily through distributors in the United States for over a decade, FAE Group opened a subsidiary, FAE USA, in 2001 to set-up and manage accounts of its’ North American customers.  FAE USA quickly grew and the company decided it was time to further invest in its future for the U.S. market. In 2006, FAE built a state of the art facility in Hall County to sell and support products to dealers in North America.  The international company brought a $3 million investment to the area with the construction of its 35,000 sq. ft. warehouse and office facility. The total lot accounts for 8 acres including space for future expansion.   FAE USA CEO Giorgio Carera chose the location of Oakwood South Industrial Park after a search in the Southeast.  “We supply dealers and major OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) world-wide and our FAE USA operation allows us to better serve those U.S. partners” says Mr. Carera.

While the current facility is used primarily for warehousing and distribution, future plans for the Flowery Branch, GA location include assembly of its more popular U.S. attachments for skid steer loaders.  Diego Scanzoni, President of FAE Group mentions, “The U.S. has always been our strongest market for the hydraulic skid steer attachments.  The future assembly operation at FAE USA will enable us to provide more value to our customers and business partners by increasing customer service, support, and manufacturing lead times.”

According to FAE USA CEO Giorgio Carera, once assembly begins, “FAE USA will be in a position to distribute more of these products to customers in Canada and South America as well as the U.S.”

With the initial investment in Hall County, FAE USA created 15 new jobs for its surrounding community.  Plans to begin assembly will undoubtedly bring more jobs to the table as capacity increases. The outsource of local components will also bring more work for the local suppliers. “FAE is committed to the U.S. market and our operation will certainly help the local economy by creating positions and putting people to work” quotes Carera.  He goes on to indicate that “Once we begin assembly on the hydraulic skid steer mulcher attachments, FAE USA will become the world supplier for these products, requiring a strong effort from our current and future employees.”

Currently FAE develops and supplies machines to 45 countries around the world and has operations in Italy, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA.  On the drawing board for FAE is new project focused on Biomass, a hot topic here in the Southeast, which will be available to the world market by year end.  Giorgio Carera with 15 years experience in the industry, states, “It is a privilege to work with a company that is always one step ahead of the competitors.” Mr. CEO Giorgio Carera credits the success of FAE to “their strong business ethic which includes providing customers with quality products and services.”
